How To Get From Where You Are Today To Where You Want To Be?

You might have heard the adage that change is a process, not an event. When we make too many significant changes all at once, they can be unsustainable. By taking small actions, we’re able to shift our course and move in the desired direction.

I’m inviting you to embark on a transformational journey that will help you course-correct and take you from where you are in this moment to where you want to be.

The exercise I’m giving you won’t change your life (just yet!) Instead will help to bring your awareness to what lies between where you currently stand and where you’d like to end up.

Small changes can lead to an enormous transformation

All it takes is 10 minutes. By dedicating 10 minutes of your day to this exercise, you’ll begin to course-correct. Find a quiet place to sit, tune out from any distractions, mute your phone, turn off your mailbox, and disable your notifications. Grab a notebook or your diary and a pen.

Sit however is most comfortable for you. Close your eyes, take a deep breath in, and then a deep breath out. Focus your attention on the sound of your breath as it moves in and out of your body. Feel the fresh air as it enters your nostrils and your warm breath as you exhale. Do ten rounds of this. When you finish, open your eyes.

You’re ready to begin the exercise.

The Perfect Day Vision Exercise

I want you to imagine and describe what a perfect day would look like. Think about the people you will meet, the things you will do or the results you will achieve. This exercise will generate joy and excitement about your life. It will lay down the mental and emotional foundation for your life-course while consciously instilling intention.

Start by picturing the moment when you wake up. How do you feel? Where are you? Perhaps there’s a beautiful sunrise shining in through your window. Are you alone? Who’s waking up next to you? What emotions do you feel on this ideal morning? What’s your mindset? How’re your energy levels?

There are as many different versions of The Perfect Day Vision as there are people in the world. Let your imagination run wild! There are no limits to this exercise.

For some people, their perfect day entails spending quality time with their family. Others prefer to focus on results and achievements. Maybe this most memorable day is all about travel and adventure for you? Remember, there are no right or wrong, better or worse visions.

Notice as your ideal morning turns into the perfect afternoon. Reflect on your mental and physical state, as well as your actions. Envisage all the natural, vibrant energy you have coursing through your body. Focus on the emotions that would cultivate this energy. You might feel passionate, grateful, centered, and filled with love.

Consider what you’d do with your time in your ideal afternoon. You might spend some time learning or trying new things – either through work, or volunteering, or doing a hobby that you’re passionate about.

Who would you spend time with on your ideal afternoon? Would you be with family, friends, or colleagues? Maybe you’d choose to spend a peaceful time alone? Be sure to include all the elements that feel most fulfilling to you. Remember: anything is possible in this vision.

Brainstorm all the activities you’ve ever wanted to do. Things you’ve somehow never had the time or resources to include in your everyday life.

Or, you might choose to live purely and simply in the moment and enjoy the beauty of all the little things within your life.

As you envisage the evening of your perfect day, reflect on how you feel after such a fulfilling day. Picture yourself bringing positive energy to the close of your day.

Who would you spend the perfect evening with? Where would you be? Take time to describe in detail what your ideal evening would encompass.

As you experience your perfect day coming to an end, how do you feel? What thoughts come to mind?

Make a note of these key aspects:

  • What are the essential elements of your vision?
  • How much of your day is focus on your mindset?

Focus. Focus. Focus.

Review your Perfect Day Vision and read it aloud at least once a day for the next 30 days. This will help you stay laser-focused, get all the feels, and sustain your energy and enthusiasm.

Remember, every great journey starts with one small step. So the question is… What actions can you take today that will move you one step closer to experiencing your perfect day and archive success by living with purpose?
